László Szerb is Head of Research at the Vienna Institute for Global Studies (VIGS) and Professor of Economics at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Business and Economics. A leading scholar in entrepreneurship and small business research, he has published extensively on entrepreneurial ecosystems and digital entrepreneurship, with more than 80 journal articles, books, and book chapters.He is internationally recognized as the Hungarian leader of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (2000–2016) and as a founding member of the Global Entrepreneurship and Development Institute (GEDI). He is also co-founder and co-director of the Global Competitiveness Project with Esteban Lafuente. Over his career, he has held several leadership roles at the University of Pécs, including Director of the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Quantitative Management, and he currently heads the Doctoral School of Regional Politics and Economics. He also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals and is an editor of Small Business Economics.
